Nokia Bell Labs has produced more Nobel Prize winners than any institution in history. The Anomaly was built to match that legacy.
Commissioned as the permanent first touchpoint for visiting scientists, corporate partners, press, and VIPs, the installation covered a 24' x 18' reception wall at Bell Labs HQ in Murray Hill, New Jersey. The brief: communicate the culture and ethos of discovery that defines Bell Labs.
The solution was conceptual and abstract. The narrative is built around the idea of finding the anomaly in a pattern—the moment of recognition that precedes every breakthrough. The piece functions in two modes: as an ambient environmental installation when the space is used as a reception area, and as a presentation environment when reconfigured for VIP briefings.
